Tyler Kennedy Stent
Tyler Kennedy Stent is a New Zealand artist working primarily in watercolour and oil. His current practice explores human rights, global conflict and postcolonial theory, engaging with questions of representation, ethics and power. His work is particularly concerned with international solidarity and the politics of witnessing.
Stent began working professionally as an artist at a young age, developing a practice rooted in portraiture and figurative painting. His work has since expanded into collaborative and interdisciplinary projects that bring together painting, illustration, research and narrative.
His artistic practice runs alongside his academic study of global politics and human rights, allowing him to approach questions of power, identity and representation through both visual and theoretical perspectives. He is currently developing work that examines how individual experiences intersect with larger political and historical structures.
